Ball Valves to AWWA C-507 Specification

The American Water Works Association has established the specification for the full port ball valve for the applications on pump stations for the purpose of minimizing surges and or system shutdown. The C-507 specification should be utilized as the minimum specification for the application of full port ball valves in municipal water systems. The following ball valve specification provides specific features and benefits that provide superior performance and minimal costs for long term operation of municipal systems.

Metal Seated C-507 Ball Valve

The ball valve shall be eccentric seated, of the top entry design, with the metal ball seat contained in a corrosion resistant retaining ring bolted to the ball, with the matching Nitronic 60 stainless steel metal seats in the body. The valve shall have end flanges drilled to the applicable ANSI B16.1 standard Class 125 or 250. Valve shall have a clear unobstructed circular waterway, which will result in no significant head loss, when the valve is in the full open position.

Rubber Seated C-507 Ball Valve

The ball valve shall be concentric seated with a compression mold natural rubber or peroxide cured EPDM rubber seat contained in a corrosion resistant retaining ring bolted to the ball, and matching spherically machined 316 stainless steel metal seats in the body. The valve shall have end flanges drilled to the applicable ANSI B16.1 standard Class 125 or 250. Valve shall have a clear unobstructed circular waterway, which will result in no significant head loss, when the valve is in the full open position.

UHMW Seated C-507 Ball Valve

The ball valve shall be eccentric seated, of the top entry design, with a spherically machined UHMW seat contained in a corrosion resistant retaining ring bolted to the ball, and matching spherically machined 316 or Nitronic 60 stainless steel metal seats in the body. The valve shall have end flanges drilled to the applicable ANSI B16.1 standard Class 125 or 250. Valve shall have a clear unobstructed circular waterway, which will result in no significant head loss, when the valve is in the full open position.
